Use Groupicorn respectfully and lawfully. You are responsible for what you share and for protecting access to your anonymous account. Groupicorn is a coordination tool—not an emergency or safety service.
1. Agreement and eligibility
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and andrewarrow.dev (“we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your use of the Groupicorn iOS application and its related web pages and services (collectively, “Groupicorn”). By downloading, accessing, or using Groupicorn, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Groupicorn.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Groupicorn. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms on your behalf. You may not use Groupicorn if applicable law prohibits you from receiving the service.
2. What Groupicorn provides
Groupicorn is a peer-to-peer social coordination tool for private groups whose members already know one another in real life. It lets people create or join a herd, exchange community and direct messages, share optional availability and meetup status, and scan invitation QR codes. A herd may have any lawful purpose; knowing one another in real life is the only group requirement. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features as the service develops.
Groupicorn is not an emergency, transportation, or location-monitoring service. Do not rely on it to protect anyone’s safety or contact emergency responders.
3. Anonymous accounts and herds
Groupicorn creates an anonymous account after you accept the first-run privacy notice. You are responsible for activity under that account and for keeping your device and session secure. Do not share access to your session, impersonate another person, or use an identity that violates someone else’s rights.
Invitation codes and QR codes allow others to join a herd. Share them only with people you intend to invite. Depending on their role, herd members may be able to view membership information, messages, availability, and meetup status or remove members. We do not control the actions of other herd members.
Because an account is anonymous and may not be linked to an email address or phone number, we may be unable to restore access if you log out, lose your device, or lose your session credentials.
You may link Google or Apple to use multiple herds or restore access on another device. Linking is optional for your first herd. You must provide accurate provider credentials and may not link an account you do not control.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Groupicorn to:
- Break the law or encourage unlawful, fraudulent, or dangerous conduct.
- Harass, threaten, stalk, exploit, or harm another person.
- Share content that is hateful, obscene, defamatory, invasive of privacy, or otherwise unlawful.
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity or affiliation.
- Upload malicious code, interfere with the service, evade access controls, or probe for vulnerabilities.
- Collect information about others without permission or use automated means to scrape the service.
- Reverse engineer or copy Groupicorn except where applicable law expressly permits it.
- Use Groupicorn to send spam, unsolicited promotions, or content that infringes another person’s rights.
We may investigate suspected violations and remove content, restrict features, remove a member from a herd, or suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect users, Groupicorn, or others.
Groupicorn may automatically reject messages containing certain objectionable terms. You can report a message or block its sender from the message menu. Blocking prevents communication and shared presence between the two accounts; it does not necessarily remove either person from a shared herd. Send safety concerns to help@andrewarrow.dev.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of messages, profile details, and other content you submit to Groupicorn (“Your Content”). You give us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, transmit, display, and otherwise process Your Content only as needed to operate, secure, improve, and provide Groupicorn and comply with law. This license ends when Your Content is deleted from our systems, except for limited backup, legal, or security retention.
You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to submit Your Content and allow us to use it as described above. You are responsible for Your Content and for deciding what to share with your herd. Messages and shared status may be copied, saved, or disclosed by recipients outside Groupicorn.
If you believe content on Groupicorn infringes your rights, contact us with enough information to identify the content and explain your concern.
6. Privacy and device permissions
Our Privacy Policy explains how Groupicorn collects, uses, shares, and retains information. Optional features may request camera or precise location permission. You can decline those permissions or turn them off in iOS Settings, though the related feature may then be unavailable.
You may share another person’s information or location only when you have a lawful basis and their permission to do so. Do not use Groupicorn to secretly monitor, track, or surveil another person.
7. Our intellectual property
Groupicorn, including its software, design, artwork, name, logos, and other content we provide, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Groupicorn on Apple-branded devices you own or control as permitted by the App Store Usage Rules.
These Terms do not transfer ownership of Groupicorn or grant any right to use our names, marks, or branding. Feedback you voluntarily provide may be used by us without restriction or compensation to you.
8. Third-party services
Groupicorn relies on third-party services, including Apple for app distribution and Supabase for authentication, database hosting, and message delivery. Your use of those services may also be governed by their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services, content, or availability except as required by law.
9. Suspension, termination, and deletion
You may stop using Groupicorn at any time. Logging out or deleting the app does not automatically delete information already stored by the service. You can permanently delete your account and associated app data in Settings → My Account → Delete my account. If you linked Google or Apple, Groupicorn asks you to authenticate again so it can revoke the provider token. For help, email help@andrewarrow.dev.
We may suspend or terminate access if you materially or repeatedly violate these Terms, create risk or possible legal exposure, or if needed to protect Groupicorn, users, or others. Where practical, we will provide notice. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination—including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and general legal terms—will survive.
10. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Groupicorn is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that Groupicorn will always be accurate, secure, uninterrupted, error-free, or available.
Availability, location, meetup status, and arrival estimates may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate. You are responsible for confirming plans and making safe decisions. We do not endorse, verify, or take responsibility for users, herds, user content, meetups, or interactions that occur through or outside Groupicorn.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, andrewarrow.dev and its affiliates, licensors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, use, or other intangible losses, arising from or related to Groupicorn or these Terms, even if advised that such damages are possible.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims arising from or related to Groupicorn or these Terms will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us to use Groupicorn during the 12 months before the claim or US $100. The limitations in this section apply to the maximum extent permitted by law and do not limit liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded.
12. General terms
Changes
We may update these Terms as Groupicorn changes. We will post the revised Terms and update the effective date. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice when appropriate. Your continued use after revised Terms take effect means you accept them.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute that is not subject to another legally required forum will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. This does not deprive you of mandatory consumer protections in the place where you live.
Entire agreement
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding Groupicorn. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will continue in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a reorganization, financing, merger, acquisition, or transfer of the service.
13. Terms for Apple users
If you obtained Groupicorn through Apple’s App Store, you acknowledge that these Terms are between you and andrewarrow.dev, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Groupicorn or its content and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. If Groupicorn fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund any purchase price you paid for the app. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing claims relating to Groupicorn, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, and intellectual property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce this section against you. You represent that you are not in a country subject to a United States government embargo or designated as supporting terrorism and are not on a United States government prohibited or restricted-party list.
